There are a number of initiatives and incentives aimed at supporting current and future rural practitioners. Please note, read the conditions of these scholarships and schemes carefully. Rural Health Continuing Education - Individual Continuing Professional Development Support Grants RHCE Stream One Funding Round Three is now open! The Rural Health and Continuing Education sub-program (RHCE) - Stream One, funded by the Department of Health and Ageing and managed by the Committee of Presidents of Medical Colleges (CPMC), is for specialist education in rural and remote areas. The overall objectives of the RHCE Program are to provide education opportunities that support continuing professional development (CPD) for individual specialists and groups of specialists in rural and remote locations in Australia, with a focus on activities that encourage multidisciplinary team based training. RHCE replaces the Support Scheme for Rural Specialists (SSRS). Funding under Stream One of RHCE is available to rural and remote medical specialists and Specialist Medical Colleges to support individual specialists accessing CPD *** Closing date is 30th September 2011 *** Please ensure you read the guidelines carefully before completing the application form. 1) Grants to support individual specialist CPD participationGuidleines for accessing RHCE Stream One funding and the application form for individual specialists to apply for CPD support grants is available from the RHCE website. Applications must be lodged via your rural CPD officer at your Medical College to be received by RHCE Stream One Program Management Unit by 30 September 2011. If you are unsure who your College's rural CPD officer is, they are listed in the back of RHCE Stream One Guidelines. Please note that applications must be verified by the relevant Specialist Medical College. Where the applicant is not affiliated with a College (i.e. AoN practitioner, staff specialist), the applicant is also required to submit a letter from their employer, confirming their status as a specialist. Full details are provided in the Application Guidelines. 2) Project grants to support rural MDT CPD initiativesGuidelines for accessing RHCE Stream One funding and the application form for grants to support Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities for specialists and / or multi-disciplinary Teams (MDTs) can be dowloaded from the RHCE website. Applications must be submitted by a Specialist Medical College in electronic and hard copy by 30 September to RHCE Stream One Program Management Unit.
