ImageThe Department of Health and Ageing’s RASTS (Rural Advanced Specialist Training Support) scheme provides funding to several specialist Colleges, including the RANZCP, to support the development of rural training programs. The College of Psychiatrists’ RASTS project was commenced in September 2003.
Current activities of the College RASTS project include:

Providing support to trainees on rural rotations who completing the majority of their training in a rural area;
Establishing a rural training database;
Establishing a database of rural psychiatrists;
Developing strategies to promote rural training and recruitment to rural practice;
Providing a central point of contact for rural enquiries;
Supporting the ongoing development of the Rural Special Interest Group.;

The project is managed by the RANZCP Policy Unit.
